Winter Letter from the CEO

May 1, 2023 |

With Adjoin commemorating 40 years of service this year, it is fitting we are celebrating and honoring 2023 as the Year of Compassion - one of our long-standing values throughout our 40 years. Compassion involves feeling another person's pain and wanting to take steps to help relieve their suffering. The word compassion itself derives from Latin and means "to suffer together." Compassion is what happens when feelings of empathy are accompanied by the desire to help. Adjoin’s mission to create limitless pathways for people to belong where they live, work, learn and play is compassion in action.Adjoin cares deeply about every person in our community working daily to support individuals who are often invisible or unseen by people in their communities. We accept that we need to be the catalyst in creating and activating compassion within the communities of the people we support.

As we begin our path in celebrating compassion and all it brings to our communities this year, we have an ask for you - When you see an individual in need, consider compassion and take action to help that person. There are several ways to show compassion to others: We encourage you to try out a few in the next few months and share your impact with others. Compassion is good for both your physical and mental health and not only does it make you feel good when you help others, it can contribute to a greater sense of purpose and meaning in your life, even a sense of belonging. We hope you join us on our path in celebrating compassion and 40 years of helping thousands of people in need gain a sense of belonging where they live, work, learn and play.
